Pollution of the Mind

As an entrepreneur, you have to be very cautious not to allow the naysayers to contaminate your mind with their negative beliefs and opinions. For entrepreneurs, it’s very easy to experience mind pollution while on your journey to success. There may be several people around you that may have a hard time seeing the vision that you have for yourself or believing in your dream or even you.

They may not be able to display the ability to dream like you can or see what’s around the corner. Unfortunately for many people, they are unable to see into the foreseeable future for themselves, let alone for someone else. Their mind will only allow them to see what’s in front of them-not down the road. That’s why it’s important that whomever you share your dream or goals with that they are able to see the vision with you even when it’s on the other side of town or in a different time zone.

Many of us in today’s society, have become so accustomed to shooting down people dreams or using the phrase that you’re a “DREAMER” that could never happen to you. Well, I’m here to tell you whatever you imagination allows you to dream-then it can happen. In the words of W. Clement Stone, “Whatever the mind of a man can conceive and believe, then it can achieve.” It is up to you Success Chicks & Success Dudes; to know that you are capable of greatness and stop allowing others to infect you mind with their negative virus. Stop allowing others tell you that your dreams cannot come true or when are you going to start to seeing a return on your investment (ROI). We all know that when we got into this business of entrepreneurship that it wasn’t going to be an easy task and it was going to take blood, sweat and even some tears; if you willing to stay the course then opportunities will come your way in due time.

Did you know that Facebook (FB) the Social Media Site that we all use now just made it first profit last year September 2009? Facebook has been up and online for 5 years and just made its first profit. Therefore, if it took FB a couple of years, then what do you think it’s going to take for you. One of the unique things that I like about the founders of FB-Mark Zuckerberg, Chris Hughes, Dustin Moskovitz and Eduardo Saverin if those three college students and one scientist refused to give up on their dream of having the best social media site in the world. Then, what’s stopping you! Currently, FB has well-over 500 million active users and is still growing daily. If the FB founders refused to give up on their dreams-then what is going to take you to not allow anyone to pollute your mind? Remember, your dreams and goals will only go as far as you will allow them to grow.

As an entrepreneur, that has had her share of pollution of the mind; I want to leave you with five (5) ways to handle Mind Pollution while you continue to persevere when all the odds are against you:

2) Use the word, “No”; as an energy bolster to push you towards your greatness.

3) Always say Positive Things about Yourself-stop criticism yourself for every mistake or failure you have made in life. We’re all human and as an entrepreneur every decision you make; may not turn out in your favor. Nevertheless, it’s no need to beat yourself up about it. Pray on it and move on. There will be more opportunities for you.

4) Help someone else to achieve their goals -while on your path of being a successful entrepreneur.

5) Don’t Quit-some of may have been an entrepreneurial for 2, 5 or even 10 years and it still seems like you’re not getting anywhere. We’ll I’m here to tell you not to quit, because once you quit on your DREAMS-you also quit on yourself. Success Chick & Success Dudes, rest if you must, but please don’t quit-even if there isn’t anyone cheering you on at the finish line. Know that you are accomplishing your dreams and you refuse to allow anyone to pollute your mind.

This is Your Time to live your life according to your dreams, your goals and your aspirations. This is Your Time to step out of your comfort zone, step outside your normalcy in life. This is Your Time to be different, to go against the grain, to become the extraordinary person you’ve always wanted to be.

This is Your Time to become excellent, rather than being that average, mediocre person. This is Your Time to DREAM BIG rather than thinking and believing those self-limiting beliefs and doubts about yourself. This is Your Time to say, “Yes I can” when everyone else is saying, “No, I can’t.”

This is Your Time to say I WILL SUCCEED in life instead of I’ll try to do my best. This is Your Time to discover your greatness, rather than someone identifying your weaknesses. This is Your Time to open your mind to endless possibilities instead of closing your thoughts on your ideas and vision. This is Your Time to get out of darkness and look towards the light. This is Your Time to FEED your mind with nourishment that’s going to build you up from the inside out; rather than garbage or CNN (Constant Negative News). This is Your Time to get out of your head and into your greatness. This is Your Time to stop living in the SAFE ZONE and begin to live in the FAITH ZONE. This is your time to defy all the odds that are against you. Success Chicks & Success Dudes:

This is Your Time! This is Your Time!

Tomorrow is not promised to you and yesterday is a thing of the past. Make the best of today-This is Your Time!

How many of you feel distracted in life? How many of you feel like you’re spinning your wheels and you’re not getting anywhere in life? If you said yes to any of these questions, then you have distracters or roadblocks that are stopping you from achieving you goals in life. A distracters purpose is to divert your attention from what you were originally focused on or doing.

For many of us it’s easy to become distracted while on your journey to success. It’s easy to take your focus off your goals and listen to the naysayers that say you shouldn’t do this or that or you’re just wasting your time. However, what we have to realize Success Chicks & Success Dudes is that you cannot obtain or live those dreams when you have “1000″ voices in your ears. You can only listen to one person and that’s YOU! When you have an appointment with destiny and on the path of becoming the CEO of your future then you have to develop a SUPER-CONSCIOUS MIND!

According to Motivational Speaker Les Brown, before you can begin to obtain success first you have to work on your mind. In other words, stop allowing the mindflu of “I can’t” or “I’ll try” mentality stop you from achieving your goals. There are some things that you can do to keep the distracters away from you are

Feed your mind with literature that’s going to propel you to the next level in your personal or professional life.

Write put a plan how you’re going to achieve you goals

Follow-through with your plan

Take Action!

Success is not convenient. It will not accommodate you or tell you when your success is going to begin. Success is not going to wait until the kids have moved out of the house or when you free of debt. If you want success, you’re going have to go after it. Be hungry for a change in your life! Become your own self-motivator! Begin to think outside of the box and stop being an average person, rather become an extraordinary person. Success Chicks & Success Dudes, once you begin to remove the distracters from your life you’ll begin to see success in every area of your life.

If you find value in this article, please post a comment I do read all of them and would appreciate your time to do so.

A Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
Like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore–
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over–
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?
What is a dream deferred? Is it something that you put on hold for a later date and time in your life? Or, once your finances have improved or when the children have grown-up and moved out of the house. In my profession, I meet several people that say to me
over and over again. “I want to start my own business. I want to write a book. I want to quit my job. I want to travel the world.” The list goes on and on. And, my responses to them, “If not now, then when or why don’t you?

What’s holding you back from stepping out on faith and living your dream? I tell people all the time that YOU are the only person that’s holding YOU back from living your dream.” It’s not your spouse, parents, children or employer. It’s YOU. It’s the fear of the unknown, fear of failure, fear of rejection that’s renting space in your mind and telling you that you can’t do it. And, if you continue to allow that to happen, then expect to live a mediocre lifestyle. It’s very sad how we allow those negative thoughts, fears and self-doubt to stop us from living our dreams in life. For many of us, we allow our mind to lead us astray and tell us that were not capable of accomplishing our dreams. While, on the other hand we should trust and believe in ourselves and know that we’re capable of abundance and success in life.
Success Chicks & Success Dudes STOP allowing you dreams to be deferred and begin to believe in YOU because if you don’t start believing in yourself then trust me no one else will believe in you either.

Being Thankful!

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because we have so much to be thankful for in life. Sure, the economy may be grim for the moment and the economist, the experts and even our financial planners may tell us that we don’t have a chance to get out of this financial rut. Or, we will have to work until we’re 75 or 80 years old. But, I disagree with all of them. I think we need to stop investing so much of our precious commodity (time) into people and things that are not helping us propel our career or lives. We get so hung up and focused on the negative things in today’s society. For many of us we forget what we capable of doing for ourselves. You know it amazes me that whatever someone says on TV we believe it! We don’t take the time to do our own research –our own due diligence to see if it’s fact or fiction. We just believe it and that’s it.
Well, I’ve learned while being on my own personal success journey that certain things we shouldn’t have to expose ourselves to such as the news or negative people. We are our best resource when it comes to empowerment! Recently, I interviewed a radio broadcaster from a successful radio show in the Washington, DC area and he said to me that, “We are responsible for motivating ourselves.” He said he doesn’t or shouldn’t have to need someone to motivate he should be able to do that himself and I thought that was so profane and true what he said. We should be able to dig deep within ourselves and find that flames within us that will inspire and motivate us.
Unfortunately, for many of us we allow the grim news, negative people and even our surroundings put us in a pessimistic state in our lives and for some of us it may take us a lifetime; before were able to bounce back and see what were capable of doing for ourselves.

So, how do we change this mentality how do we stop allowing the enemies of our past, the rocking chair of regrets interrupt the successes of tomorrow? Easy, it all starts with YOU! Begin to start your day off with a positive frame of mind everyday:
a)	Start being gracious to see another day. For example, every morning when I wake-up at 4am “I thank God for waking me up”
b)	Next, I go into my private room and I read something inspirational each day.
c)	Then, I write my goals down in a journal where and how I want my business to grow and certain people I want to connect and network with in the future.
d)	While I’m getting dressed for work. I listen to a replay show of Joel Osteen or I’ll listen to the weather channel music. I don’t watch the local news in the morning it’s too depressing.
e)	My commute to work I listen to an inspirational CD by Willie Jolley or Bob Yates. Or, I’ll listen to the gospel group Mary-Mary.

Regardless, what I do I refuse to allow the media or people affect my commute and my spirit in the morning. Yes, I know many of us are going through some difficult times in your finances or health. But, if you’re able to get-up, sit-up, stand and walk then you’re already have a lot to be thankful today and everyday. The rest is up to YOU!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Invest in Yourself
In these economic and challenging times, returning to school or investing in yourself may not be an option for some of us at the moment. However, there are FREE ways that you can invest in yourself.
1)	Go to the public library- It has a wealth of information that’s free for us. The only requirement is a valid library card.
2)	Go to the bookstore- you don’t have to buy the book if you can’t afford at this time. But you can go to their café purchase a coffee, latte, bagel or sandwich. Bring your notepad and begin to take notes from the experts that are in your field of study. Study their secrets and talents on how they became successful in life.
3)	Listen to motivational CDs or DVDs at home or in your car. Instead of turning the TV on listening to the same old depressing news on a daily basis. Pop-in a Wayne Dyer-DVD or listen to a CD on your MP-3 player in your car while driving to work, at the gym or before you go to bed at night.
4)	Begin to surround yourself with other like-minded people that want to acquire and accumulate success and wealth in their lives.
5) Attend seminars some of them have prices that may range from $0-25.00 and others maybe on the higher end. Analyze your budget to see what’s the best fit for you. However, I’ve attended many $25.00 seminars and I’ve felt that the information I received at those events were more beneficial and helpful to me than some that were on the higher end.
6)	Barter your services- if someone has something that you maybe interested find a way that both of you can benefit from it.
7)	Offer free services to people that are having seminars and conferences ask them, “How can I help you have a successful conference or seminar?”
Stop hanging around or socializing with NEGATIVE PEOPLE!

Quitting is NEVER an option if you’re goal is to acquire success. Whatever obstacle or setback you’re experiencing in life. You must decide what it is that you want and then make up your mind to achieve that goal. Yes, you will experience some opposition, failure and even temporary defeats while on your success journey. But, knowing that all of those setbacks are only to make you stronger, build your character and most importantly belief in yourself. All of these challenges are to teach you about humility and how to handle failures. Consider them as lessons learned or teachable moments in your life, but not to discourage you from living your best life.

The Apostle Paul said that when doors of opportunity opened to him, opposition often came with it (1 Corinthians 16:9). He’s saying that whatever you have set out to do. Do It- don’t allow fear, resistance or conflict to stop you from finishing or completing your race or course in life. Continue to keep your eyes on the prize and know that whatever is happening to you is meant for YOU at that time. It’s only there to make you stronger and a better person, not to crush or destroy you. But, to teach you the invaluable lessons that need to be learned while on your journey to success. When you continue to persevere and push yourself in life. You discover different things about yourself that you never knew existed such as you’re able to be strong and hold on in spite of defeat and turmoil. And, that is when you’re displaying a characteristic of sticking with things even when times are tough. Having that trait will separate you from others and put you one step closer to acquiring success in your life.

For example, President Obama is displaying that quality in more ways than one. He is sticking to his goal of having health-care plan for every American in this country. Although he’s been hit with many oppositions from both parties and from the American people he continues to persist and not give-up. He is keeping at it at all cost and getting his point across to all whether they want to hear it or not. We’ve all seen in the past politicians that make all these superficial promises to us to get our vote, but once they get into office their goal is on a certain group of people (i.e.,socio-economic status). Unlike, President Obama he truly is a president that is for all people and he’s not a quitter. Therefore, if the leader of our country can continue to persevere and face hostility with class, character and dignity, then Success Chicks & Success Dudes there is no reason why we cannot keep on pushing ourselves to greatness. So, the next time you’re ready to throw in the towel or quit; ask yourself, “What will I really accomplish if I quit now?”

In 1916, the famous poet Robert Frost published a poem titled, “The Road Not Taken.” Mr. Frost stated that the poem focused on that choice is inevitable, but you never know what your choice will mean until you have lived it.

For many of us we say that we want to start over in our lives or we want to make a change, but we don’t know where to begin or worse we don’t know how to begin a new direction in our life. Well, I’m here to tell you the process is easier than you may think (yes, it will take some extra work from you Success Chicks & Dudes). However, it will be well worth it in the end. Don’t allow the road that you are currently traveling to be your lot in life or become you final destination. At any day or time, you can begin a brand-new path in your life. We all have the right and responsibility to assess the road which lies ahead, and those over which we have traveled, and if the future road loom ominous or unpromising events in our lives. Then we need to step off that road, carry only the necessary baggage and go into a new direction in our lives. There will be times when you have to take a new direction in your life. It will be an arduous task for you to accept, but once you’ve begin to explore different paths and seize the opportunity in every new direction then you’ll be able to take the road less traveled and see the difference in your life.

Listed below are five success chick tips to assist you in your own success journey:

a.	Decide which new direction you want to make in your life.
b.	Begin by making small significant changes.
c.	Follow your own road in life; not others.
d.	Don’t allow the setbacks or adversities while on your success journey; put a pause or hold on your life.
e.	Tell yourself over and over that a new direction and change is what’s needed and necessary for you.

As you all know I emphatically call myself the Success Chick. I know some of you are probably wondering why I say that. Because I believe success comes in many forms. Regardless, of how much money you have that doesn’t determine how successful you will be in life. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, success is a favorable or desired outcome; the gaining of wealth and fame; and one that succeeds.

In other words, money doesn’t always warrant how successful you will be or how successful you’re going to be in life. It’s a collaboration of many things (i.e., wealth, financial status, health and beliefs). There are numerous people in this world today that are financially secure in their lives, but are not successful in other areas. For example, we can take the wife of Bernie Madoff (Ruth Madoff) she has become or known as the loneliest woman in New York City. Recently, she was asked not to return to her hair salon. Although, Ruth Madoff may have walked away with 2 million dollars of other people’s money and she didn’t do any jail time like her husband. She has loss all the respect, dignity and most of all the integrity of her friends. I am quite sure that her relationships with her sons, daughter-in- laws and grandchildren have all been gravely affected and strained by this Ponzi scheme. Having said all of that, success does not mean that it’s all about the money. Success does start with you, but at what cost. Yes, we all want to be successful, however; none of us should ever want to lose our integrity in the midst of becoming a success.

It’s about what you’re capable of doing and giving back to others. For example, how many of us volunteer or mentor, how many of us encourage and/or push others to greatness or how many of us are there to pick other people up when they have fallen or do you enjoy rubbing it into someone else’s face by saying, “I told you so.”? Success Chicks wealth comes in many appearances, but what you have to remember and know that it’s not going to knock on your door and present itself to you. You will have to go out and seek the hidden opportunities. Starting today Success Chicks find the success within you and begin to see yourself explode into greatness.

Until Later,
Much Success to You,

In life, there are times when you want to sit down especially while on your success journey. Success Chick you have to remember that you’re never going to be able to stand on the outside if you can’t or won’t stand up on the inside. Success all starts with you! The change you want to see happen in your life has to begin with YOU! It’s not up to your family, spouse or friends to tell you. It’s something that you have to tell yourself on a continual basis. “I need to stand up on the inside, before change can occur on the outside.”
Whatever has happened in your life that you are not proud of. You have to begin to accept it, move on, stop dwelling on it and living in the past. When you give things to God you’ll begin to see miraculous things begin to happen instantaneously in your life. Begin to develop an unwavering faith in yourself that things are possible as long as you believe they are. You cannot stand up on the inside and utter words such as, “this will never work.” Stop giving up on yourself learn to practice patience and stewardship.

Stop allowing the emotional wounds from your past, hold you back from achieving greatness in your life? If you never let go or release those emotional wounds they will continue to grow and limit you from achieving your dreams in life. An emotional wound may not be something that you can see, but its impact can be life-altering for you and others that know and care about you. Letting go of an emotional wound is a hard and difficult task to do, but it’s something that needs to be done in order for you to grow and excel in your life. It will continue to hold you back and stunt your growth. Yes, it’s easy to cling to it because it has become part of our safety net and for many of us it determines who we are.
So, what’s it going to be Success Chick you can choose to be free and let go of it or you can continue to live a controlled life by your emotional wound.
“Unless you let go of the old; God will not bring the new.” Joel Osteen

Listed below are some questions about releasing the emotional wounds in your life-answer them to the best of your ability.

a)	List the emotional wound(s) that you continue to hold on.
b)	Why do you refuse to let them go?
c)	Are you ready to let them go? (Be honest with yourself)
d)	What do you think will happen if you let them go and begin to live you life on your terms?
e)	How do you feel since you’ve released the emotional wound?
f)	Stand up on the inside!
